NEW MADRID -- New Madrid County Central softball standout Abby Sexton signed a letter of intent to play for Dyersburg State Community College.
"Abby played a great third base for us," said NMCC head coach Steve Rogers. "She was really a main cog in our offense. I'm just pleased she's getting the opportunity to go to college and further her education and softball career."
This year Sexton was the batting champion on NMCC's 17-0 team, carrying a .526 average.
"She's a pretty good contact hitter," said Dyersburg head coach Randy Hulme. "Hopefully she can add a dimension of power to our lineup. We will be counting on her to come off the bench and do some hitting for us the first year. I haven't really decided where I'm going to play her in the field yet."
Last year Dyersburg was 14-21 overall and 8-8 in their conference.
