Bryan Swilley

PORTAGEVILLE - Bryan Swilley, 105, died March 14, 2002, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 27, 1896, at Portageville, son of the late Kibble Terry and Louise Davis Swilley, he was a member of the Conran Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran, having served during World War I.

On Sept. 8, 1920, in Portageville, he married Lena Ethel Frizzell who preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1996.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Mozart Swilley; two brothers, Mack Swilley and Cody Swilley Sr.; three sisters, Alice Sutherland, Ethel Franklin and Maude Swilley; one grandchild, Rob Swilley; and one great-grandchild, Bailey Swilley.

Survivors include: four sons, Bo Swilley of Hornlake, Miss., J.K. Swilley of Portageville, B.W. Swilley of Hazen, Ark., and Don Swilley of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Inman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Bo Swilley, J.K. Swilley, B.W. Swilley, Don Swilley, Jimmy Swilley, John Swilley.
