SCOTT CITY - James William Curran, 69, died at 5 a.m. Dec. 15, 2002, at the Jackson Manor.

Born July 10, 1923, in St. Louis, son of the late Francis and Matilda Dempsey Curran, he was a steelworker before retiring and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.

Survivors include: two sons, Tim Johnston of Scott City and Robert Curran of Wapeton, N.D.; two daughters, Vickie Williams of Scott City and Shanna Steves of Breckendridge, Minn.; one brother, Robert Curran of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Donna Harmon of Sullivan and Margaret Remter of Norfolk, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.

Two brothers and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Guerrero, officiating.

Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Patrick Johnston, Scott Johnston, Mark Johnston, Rand Kiplinger, Matt Johnston and Shawn Williams.
