POPLAR BLUFF - Elizabeth June Maxwell, 83, formerly of Sikeston, died at 9:42 a.m. Jan. 6, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 2, 1919, in Prairie Township, Ill., daughter of the late Russell and Chloe Ingle Nidey, she was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church in Sikeston. She was a cook for the Sikeston High School cafeteria before retiring.

On Aug. 7, 1954, in Robinson, Ill., she married James Robert Maxwell who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1994.

Survivors include: three daughters, Wanda Eason of Poplar Bluff and Susan Chaka and Cinda Decker of Austin, Texas; one brother, Randall Nidey of Robinson; one sister, Betty Murray of Evansville, Ind.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One brother also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Thursday until service time at noon at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Luther "Bud" Goins, pastor of the Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Chalk Buff Cemetery at Dexter.
