Mildred Vickery

CHAFFEE - Mildred Vickery, 83, died at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Henderson County, Tenn., daughter of the late Lucian Young and Ada Frances Douglas Wiles, she was a hairdresser and retired as owner and operator of Mildred's Beauty Shop. A member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee, she was also a member of Chaffee PEO Sisterhood, the Chaffee Historical Society and past matron of Chaffee Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 48.

On Nov. 27, 1940, she married Edwin P. Vickery who preceded her in death on July 25, 1998.

She is survived by four brothers, Euel Wiles of Nashville, Tenn., Coy Wiles of Klamath Falls, Ore., Paul Wiles of Springfield and Lawton Wiles of Jackson, Tenn.

Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Day officiating.

Burial will follow in Union Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Charlie Vickery, Jim Vickery, Bill Bob Vickery, Brad Talley, Bill Talley and Wallace Milam.
