Charles McConkey
BERTRAND - Charles McConkey Jr., 67, died at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 30, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 9, 1934, in Paris, Ill., son of the late Charles R. and Bertha Moss McConkey Sr., he lived in Bertrand most of his life. He was a self-employed ceramic tile layer for 50 years before retiring in 2000 and was a member of the Charleston Church of Christ.
On July 25, 1953, he married Rosey Pemberton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Charles R. McConkey III of Paducah, Ky.; one daughter, Beverly Bowles of Lathrop; one sister, Julia Endocott of Broughton, Ill.; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Charleston Church of Christ with Daniel Bell, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Charles McCollum, Carl Ragland, Terry Pemberton, Charles Bickford, Chris Chambers and Ray Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill Bradley, Garry L. Smith, James Larry Smith, Mike Palmer and Sonny Bickford.
