H.L. Stanley

LILBOURN - H.L. Stanley, 75, died May 15, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 23, 1927, in Stanley, son of the late W.C. and Josie Ledbetter Stanley, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.

On May 4, 1947, at Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Jean Nelson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Mike Stanley of Sikeston and Eric Stanley and Dwayne Stanley of New Madrid; three daughters, Sherry Greene of Clarksville, Tenn., Susie Hodges of Russellville, Ark., and Lisa Hunter of New Madrid; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Church of God in Lilbourn with the Rev. Meryl Duffy, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
