Billy Glass

BLOOMFIELD - Billy Gene Glass Sr., 62, died June 22, 2002, at his home.

Born Sept. 9, 1939, in Bernie, son of the late Murl "Bill" and Ruth Virginia Carter Glass, he lived in Bernie before moving to Bloomfield 25 years ago. He retired as a foreman with Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Kimball Street Baptist Church in Malden.

On Jan. 30, 1959, in Vinson, he married Phyllis Russell.

Survivors include: four sons, Joshua Glass of Essex, Billy Gene Glass Jr. of North Port, Fla., Richard Glass of Pleasant Hope and Marcus Glass of Bloomfield; one daughter, Evelyn Denise Gregg of Pleasant Hope; one brother, Charles Glass of Bloomfield; one sister, Brenda Wilson of Henderson, Ky.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Glass; and three sisters, Helen Glass, Evelyn Glass and Charlene Litton.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Sonny Floyd of St. Louis officiating.

Burial followed in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery at Dexter.
