Raymond Stewart

DEXTER - Raymond F. Stewart, 89, died Feb. 23, 2002, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Nov. 6, 1912, at Garnett, Kan., son of the late Fletcher and Cora Garrison Stewart, he was a member, trustee, Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer, Sunday school secretary and adult class teacher at Sugar Tree General Baptist Church. He worked as a driver and shop foreman for the Hart Truck Line for 30 years before retiring.

On May 10, 1952, at Dexter, he married Naomi Wiggs who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Rayla Hogue of Cape Girardeau and Lillian Snavely of Ozark; one brother, Everett Stewart of Mansfield; one sister, Sylvia Bennett of Mansfield; and six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Suzanne Stewart; three brothers, Henry Stewart, Reuben Stewart and Ernest Stewart; and two sisters, Edna Binley and Fearn Smith.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Joe Ogelvie, John Snavely, John Lee Adams, Dr. Glen F. Wiggs and the Rev. Dr. James V. Hogue will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
