SIKESTON - Gary Lee McClain, 59, died at 9:10 a.m. July 22, 2003, at his home.

Born May 16, 1944, in Mississippi County, son of the late J.C. and Lillian Earline Delk McClain, he lived in Mississippi and Scott counties most of his life. A 1963 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, he was employed with the Bob Ralph Distributing Company in Sikeston for 30 years, where he currently served as general manager. A former co-owner of the Hawthorne Campground and Canoe Rental in Van Buren, he was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church near Sikeston, Masonic Lodge 310 in Sikeston and the Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis.

On June 16, 1962, he married Paula Segraves who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Dana McClain of Charleston; one daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Brent Keefer of Sikeston; three brothers, Gerald McClain and Don McClain of Charleston and Carl McClain of Sikeston; four sisters, Freida Woodruff of LaCenter, Ky., Wanda Stark and Margaret McKinney of Charleston and Rayola Groves of Benton; and four grandchildren, Abbi Keefer and Luke Keefer of Sikeston and Emily McClain and Edward McClain of Charleston.

One brother, John Essary, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Vester, pastor of the Old Bethel Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Morley.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Jerry McClain, Chalk McClain, Tim Morgan, Bob Segraves, Keith Segraves, Jackie Groves, Johnny Groves and Kenny Essary.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Larry McRoy, Marvin "Bo" Ralph, Elmer Schaefer, Kenny Brewer, Rick Hamm, Larry Segraves, Bruce Segraves and Doug Segraves.
