Erma Mallett
CAPE GIRARDEAU - Erma Lee Mallett, 86, died at 2:30 a.m. July 21, 2003, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 30, 1917, in Hill Creek, Ark., daughter of the late John Avery and Ella C. Whitley Trafford, she retired as a sewing machine operator for the Florsheim Shoe Company in Chaffee. She and her husband farmed near Randles for many years and she was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
On Jan. 31, 1937, she married Philip E. Mallett who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1981.
Two daughters, three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Edward L. Mallett of Smithton, Ill.; one daughter, Joan Horrell of Marble Hill; and five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. U.S. Marine Corps Chaplain Rick Bradley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Friend Cemetery at Oran.
