Earl Hume

DEXTER - The Rev. Earl Hume, 91, died Feb. 22, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born July 20, 1910, at Dexter, son of the late Charlie and Nancy Jane Fortner Hume, he lived in Michigan where he built a church for 30 years before moving to Dexter in 1972. He was a member of the Second General Baptist Church and had served as pastor for several area churches.

On Oct. 15, 1932, he married Rita Mary Oliver who preceded him in death on March 26, 1973.

On Sept. 28, 1973, he married Madeline Smith who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Bonnie Seay of Thomasville, N.C., Andrea Boyd of Higdon, Ark., and Patsy Whitehouse of Michigan; two stepdaughters, Violet Higgs and Nancy Wade of Dexter; one brother, Charles Hume of Dexter; one sister, Ivy Lyles of Kalamazoo, Mich; and two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, three brothers, four sisters and one grandchild.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
