Bet Vanpool
BERTRAND - Vester "Bet" Vanpool, 78, died at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 24, 2002, at his home.
Born May 11, 1924, in Bertrand, son of the late Hal and Grace Adline Brashear Vanpool, he was a lifelong resident of Bernie and worked in construction until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two sisters, Aline Hinkle and Nadine Pulliam of Bertrand; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Hal Vanpool, George Hal Vanpool, Willis Vanpool and Bobby Jean Vanpool; and one sister, Ellen Francis Vanpool.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jim Eskew, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Bertrand, will officiate.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside rites at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: David Bridges, D.J. Manker, Don Manker, Bill Vanpool, Phil Vanpool and Bruce Groves.
