Susie Burton

PORTAGEVILLE - Susie Elizabeth Baker Burton, 92, died Aug. 25, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 12, 1910, in Beech Grove, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Amelia Baker.

On Oct. 25, 1924, she married Ben F. Burton who preceded her in death on April 8, 1973.

She was also preceded in death by one son, R.B. Burton on Feb. 5, 1998; one stepson, Henry Burton; one stepdaughter, Elzadia Burton Rice; two sisters, Melva Baker and Elsie Baker; and three brothers, Steve Baker, George Baker and Price Baker.

Survivors include: eight grandchildren, Wendy Hamil, Shirlene Frech, Garry Smith, Lagretta Colo, Danny Burton, Vickie Landa, Angela Stevens and Elizabeth McCoy; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlie Collins of Indiana and Pearl Burton of Michigan.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Walls and Danny Burton, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
