Vesta Sommers

PUXICO - Vesta Sommers, 93, died July 24, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born July 6, 1909, in Laurie, Ark., daughter of the late William and Jane Burr Macom, she lived in the Puxico area for 51 years and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Dexter.

On Sept. 3, 1927, in Harrison, Ark., she married James Sommers who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1962.

Survivors include: two sons, James Sommers and Francis Sommers of Puxico; two daughters, Veldena Bradish of Bloomfield and Louise Chappell of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Verbie Gann and Minnie Bailey of Harrison; and four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Alfred Sommers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday with Elder Bill Greer of Dexter, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
