SIKESTON - Nancy Jane "Janie" Carter, 78, died at 4:56 p.m. July 24, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Sikeston, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Albert and Bertha Brown Hutcheson.

On Jan. 13, 1945, in Sikeston, she married William Cecil Carter who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1998.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Sharon Carter of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Darla Jane and Joe Brasfield of West Memphis, Ark.; four brothers, Billy Gene Hutcheson of Kenosha, Wis., Ted Hutcheson of East Prairie, Frank Hutcheson of Fulton and Paul D. Hutcheson of Weaverville, Calif.; two sisters, Mackie Seagraves of Sikeston and Sue Shadwell of Wappapello; two grandchildren and their spouses, Joe Frank and Nona Brasfield of West Memphis and Becky and Les Ray of Christopher, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Avon Racckowski, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Wappapello, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Brad Wilson, Glenn Greene, Reece Reeder, Gary Mize, Keith Break and Harrison Duckworth.
