Ernest Abbott

LILBOURN - Ernest Lee Abbott, 76, died July 21, 2002, at his home.

Born Nov. 5, 1925, son of the late William "Bill" and Gertie Abbott, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a steelworker for Continental Steel in Kokomo, Ind., before retiring.

On Dec. 25, 1972, he married Mary E. Brock who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Danny Abbott of Indiana, Denis Abbott of Peru, Ind., Jeffery Abbott of Santa Fe, Ind., and Robert Abbott of Tennessee; one daughter, Syble Qualls of Logansport, Ind.; five stepsons, Michael Fieweger and Jeffery Fieweger of St. Louis, Richard Fieweger of Portageville, Phillip Fieweger of Berkeley, Calif., and Daniel Helems of North Sydney, Nova Scotia; one half brother, Johnny Abbott of New Madrid; three half sisters, Lois Romaine of Portageville and Emma Townsend and Glenda Childers of Sikeston; and 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn.

Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
