Bill Allen
EAST PRAIRIE - Bill Allen, 70, died at 8:20 p.m. May 24, 2002, in Fairfield Bay, Ark.
Born Nov. 29, 1931, in Wolf Island, son of the late G.M. "Pete" and Bessie Hockersmith Allen, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was a farmer until retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
On March 13, 1955, he married Ava June Smith who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Joe Allen of Farmington; two daughters, LuAnn Cantrell of Sikeston and Tracy Hohler of Searcy, Ark.; two brothers, Leondas "Doc" and G.W. Allen of East Prairie; two sisters, Maxine Lasters of Bertrand and Vivian Watson of East Prairie; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home. Rob Kespelher, pastor of the First Church of God in East Prairie, officiated.
Burial followed in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers were: Greg Nunn, Glen Nunn, Gary Nunn, Brad Ryan, Tony Schultze and Mitch Cadle.
