Johnnie Durden

PORTAGEVILLE - Johnnie Lee Durden, 49, died May 30, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

Born June 30, 1952, in Marston, son of Pearlie Mae Durden of Portageville and the late Lacy Martin, he was a life-long resident of Missouri and was a member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. A graduate of Portageville High School, he was worked on farms.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Johnnie Lee Durden Jr.

Survivors include: three sisters, Ollie Campbell of Memphis, Shelia Hodges of Portageville and Iris Robinson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five brothers, Clyde Durden of Farmington, N.M., the Rev. Calvin Durden of Jonesboro, Ark., Terry Durden and Wilbur Durden of Portageville and Roosevelt Durden of St. Louis.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church until services scheduled for noon with Reginald Grant officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville City Cemetery.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home of Howardville is in charge of arrangements.
