Lawrence Thornton
MALDEN - Lawrence V. Thornton, 64, died Feb. 18, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born June 20, 1937, at Oran, son of the last Jonas and Idell Lewis Thornton, he was a retired farmer and attended Mount Calvary Church in Parma.
Survivors include: six daughters: Barbara Johnson, Cynthia Tillman and Leslie Johnson of Parma, Loretta Thornton of Lilbourn and April Thornton and Brandy Thornton of Sikeston; two brothers, Albert Thornton of Sikeston and Charles Thornton of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Lillie Bell Patton and Louise Davis of Portageville, Marie Smith of Poplar Bluff and Areatha Miller of Parma; and 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Regina Williams; and three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held from noon Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. The Rev. Floyd Wade will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in rural Clarkton.
