Tecora Henry
ST. LOUIS - Tecora Lewis "Mama T" Henry, 90, formerly of Wyatt and Bell City, died April 15, 2002, in St. Louis.
Born Dec. 30, 1910, in Rollingfork, Miss., daughter of the late Irvin and Ella Lewis, she was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Bell City, where she was a Sunday school teacher and mission teacher, served on the Usher Board and Mother Board and was the church clerk for more than 50 years. She worked for the University of Missouri Extension Programs from Columbia from 1969-79 and retired as outreach worker for the University of Missouri Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation in Stoddard, Scott and New Madrid counties.
In 1928, at Wyatt, she married Mack C. Henry who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: six daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara Horton, Joyce and Robert Kirkwood and Shirley Williams of St. Louis, Ethel and Charles Powell and Everlyn Henry of Jefferson City and Carolyn and Donnie Carter of Springfield, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Mary Ann Henry of Bowling Green, Ky., and Odell and Marilyn Henry of Jefferson City; one daughter-in-law, Alice Faye Henry of Morley; and 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Arjustus Henry, Mack C. Henry Jr. and Frank Henry; and two stepsons, Lucious Henry and Lou Clinton Taylor Henry.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Austin A. Layne Mortuary in St. Louis.
Services will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Bell City Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Elisha Pullen officiating.
Burial will follow in J.C. Pullen Memorial Gardens near Bell City.
