Elmer Shelby
PUXICO - Elmer Rudolph Shelby, 65, died April 18, 2002, at his home.
Born Dec. 7, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, son of the late Clarence and Minnie Roedel Shelby, he lived in Stoddard County most of his life. A member of the Puxico General Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 596 AF&AM in Puxico, he was a farmer and millwright.
In October 1988, in Eldon, Iowa, he married Margaret Jeffrey who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Clara Ann Davis of St. Clair and Scarlett Carwell of Bloomfield; one son, Elmer Shelby Jr. of Tell City, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Turner of Tuscumbia and Terry Vorhise of Santa Maria, Calif.; two stepsons, Michael Conger of Oskalossa, Iowa, and Donald Conger of Muscatine, Iowa; one brother, Delmer Shelby of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
