Marie Copeland

SIKESTON - Marie H. Copeland, 80, died at 7:26 a.m. April 22, 2002, at her residence.

Born Aug. 10, 1921, in Booneville, Miss., daughter of the late Clyde and Vivian Gooch Swiney, she had lived in Sikeston since 1970, moving from Blytheville, Ark., where she was a member of the Church of Christ and owned a beauty shop.

On Feb. 12, 1947, in Blytheville, she married Earl B. "Sonny" Copeland, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two brothers, James Swiney of New Madrid and Billy Swiney of Sikeston; one grandson, Mark Wilf of Cordova, Tenn.; and two granddaughters, Kristi Copeland and Lori Copeland of Ponca City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard B. Copeland, who died in 1992; one daughter, Barbara Ann Wilf, who died in 1983; and two brothers.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn with Pat Hogan, minister of the Shady Acres Church of Christ, officiating.
