Geneva Childers

MARION, Ill. - Geneva Lee Childers, 78, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 6:30 a.m. April 15, 2002, at Fountain's Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Mississippi County, Mo., daughter of the late Oscar and Ethel Lindsey Ivie, she had lived in Marion for the past 18 years. She was a member of Wolf Island Baptist Church near East Prairie and attended the Third Baptist Church in Marion.

On Aug. 30, 1940, she married Lonnie Pershing Childers who preceded her in death on April 18, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include: three sons, Bruce Childers of Charleston and Danny Childers and Tony Childers of East Prairie; two daughters, Janet Glodjo of Marion and Linda Williford of Macedonia, Ill.; seven brothers, Ralph Ivie of Owensboro, N.C., Ray Ivie and Jimmy Ivie of East Prairie, Russell Ivie and Roy Ivie of Poplar Bluff, Walter Ivie of Charleston and Barry Ivie of Michigan; and 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday with Burl Britt officiating.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Brian Childers, Jay Childers, Trevor Williford, Todd Williford, Wes Williford and Tyler Glodjo.
