Dean Overbey
CAPE GIRARDEAU - Meta W. "Dean" Overbey, 81, formerly of Sikeston, died Dec. 28, 2002, at her home.
Born Sept. 12, 1921, at Ethel, Miss., daughter of the late John Edward and Lillie Mae Ward Crow, she was was director of the nursery at the First Baptist Church in Sikeston for 25 years, where she was a former member and worked for J.C. Penney in Sikeston from 1974-86. She was a member of the Lynwood Baptist Church. During World War II, she was a riveter in the construction of Corsair and Thuderbold fighter planes at assembly plants in Evansville, Ill.
On June 24, 1939, at Etowah, Ark., she married Leonard Overbey who preceded her in death on June 8, 1973.
Survivors include: two sons, Daniel Overbey of Cape Girardeau and Dennis Overbey of Savannah; one daughter, Ramona Clark of Hardin, Ky.; and six grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
