Richard Carr

CHARLESTON - Richard H. Carr, 76, died at 1 a.m. Feb. 20, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born May 1, 1925, in Charleston, son of the late Thomas Wellington and Agnes Kettel Carr, he was a lifelong resident of Charleston where he was assistant city manager for many years before retiring in 1968. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in Charleston.

On Dec. 28, 1948, he married Henrietta "Skeeter" Hatton, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Rick Carr of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Cletus Carr of Marshfield, Mass.; two sisters, Frances Johnson of Hazelwood and Lucille French of Memphis; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Wellington Carr; and six brothers and two sisters.

Relatives and friends will assemble for graveside rites at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.

Monsignor Mike Swalina, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of New Madrid, will officiate.
