Richard Bright

EAST PRAIRIE - Richard Bright, 86, died at 10:16 p.m. Sept. 12, 2002, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born July 1, 1916, near East Prairie, son of the late Henry P. and Annie Jackson Bright, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was of the Protestant belief. He worked in the Missouri Concentration Camp in Sikeston during World War II and was a sawmill edger and carpenter before retiring.

On June 19, 1937, he married Emma Myers who preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1993.

Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Ann Cull of Cedar Hills and Pamela Sue Wahl of Paducah, Ky.; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were two sons, Richard E. Bright and Clifford R. Bright; and two brothers, one half brother, eight sisters and two half sisters.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
