Bill Shirrell

ZALMA - William "Bill" Shirrell, 71, died Sept. 12, 2002, at his home.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, at Zalma, son of the late Phynnie and Dovie Hedrick Shirrell, he was a retired sawmill worker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was of the Baptist belief.

On Jan. 28, 1955, he married Carolyn Thurston who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Billy Shirrell of Zalma; one daughter, Lorita Ann Goolsby of Zalma; two sisters, Judy Powell of High Ridge and Lita Thornburg of Silva; and two grandchildren.

Three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, where services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Earl Eftink, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
