Joe Jenkins

EAST PRAIRIE - Joe C. Jenkins, 68, died at 5:41 a.m. May 28, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 24, 1935, in Neelyville, son of the late Clarence Layton and Lola Beatrice Berry Jenkins, he retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a military police officer and was of the Baptist belief. After his retirement, he owned and operated a business in Colorado before returning to East Prairie in 2001.

Survivors include: one brother, W.D. Jenkins of East Prairie; five sisters, Audrey Delay of East Prairie, Goldie Patrick of Mounds, Ill., Janice Nelson and Barbara Gaydis of Streator, Ill., and Gladys Crook of Naylor; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are scheduled.
