CHARLESTON - Alfred Taylor and son, Melfred Taylor, have purchased the Charleston Laundry and Cleaning Shop in a business deal completed Wednesday night.

SIKESTON - A tap dancer, two folk singing groups and a piano-vocal duet took top honors last night at the Men's Scholarship Talent. The show, the first fund-raising event to be sponsored by the group since its inception a few weeks ago, proved highly successful. David Gilmore and his tap dance routine won in the division for those 12 and under.

SIKESTON - Clinton Robert Wright was presented the honor of valedictorian of the Sikeston High School graduating class by principal Bob Buchanan. Colleen Rae Robison was salutatorian.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Kindergarten Center's May citizenship winners during the morning session are Erica Heaton, Lado Newman, James DeLoach, Jordan Miller, Jacque Smith, Dianna Dixon, Chemyka Brown, Suzi Schroer and Cullen Looney. The awards are given for mannerisms and thoughtfulness toward others.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Senior High Class of '93 said their last goodbyes to the school at their commencement program Tuesday night at the Field House. Catherine Sikes was named valedictorian while Ketan Patel held the salutatorian honors.

SIKESTON - The annual Fishing Derby, sponsored by the City of Sikeston's Recreation Department, will be held June 5 at the Recreation Complex Lake. This year's event offers one session for children ages 15 and under from 8 a.m. until noon.
