SIKESTON - When Allen Hatchett dished the ball to James Harris for an easy layup at the 6:44 mark of the second quarter in Friday's championship game of the Sikeston Invitational, it meant more than Sikeston's first lead of the game. It meant the Sikeston program - at least for this season - had turned the corner. The Bulldogs powered up with a 6-point win and ran away with the crown.

SIKESTON - A law beginning Jan. 1, 1995, will aid law enforcement agencies in tracking sex offenders. According to Senate Bill 693, any person convicted of a sex offense since July 1, 1979, must register with the chief law enforcement official of the county and city where he or she resides. "We should have had this a long time ago. It will no doubt help law enforcement track offenders who could be suspects in crimes that resemble their past offenses," said DPS Capt. Bob Gee.
