Mildred Thrower
SIKESTON - Mildred Baker Thrower, 85, died March 21, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Jan. 31, 1917, in Charleston, daughter of the late L.R. and Alpha (Baker) Baker, she co-owned and operated Thrower Shoe Repair for 33 years and was a member of Tanner Street Church of God.
On Aug. 19, 1934, at Blytheville, Ark., she married A.C. "Junior" Thrower who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Larry Thrower of Columbia, Jerry Thrower of Lake Almanor, Calif., and Michael Thrower of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Sharon Newman of Sikeston; one brother, Marion Baker of Rossville, Tenn.; three sisters, Evelyn Taylor, Doris Jean Livingston and Judith Burnett of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Two grandchildren preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ponder Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Tom Geers, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Duane Anderson, Steve Fair, Dennis Thrower, Gary Estes, Jim Newman and Rolan Appleton.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Medford Livingston, Marion Baker, Clay Taylor, Todd Newman and Kenneth Bailey.
