SIKESTON -- Judy Sheryl Goode Burden, 55, died at 8:20 a.m. June 9, 2004, at her residence in Sikeston, after a yearlong battle with colon cancer. SIKESTON -- Judy Sheryl Goode Burden, 55, died at 8:20 a.m. June 9, 2004, at her residence in Sikeston, after a yearlong battle with colon cancer.

Born Sept. 28, 1948, in Sikeston, she was the youngest daughter of Hugh and Shirley Landers Goode, who survive of Sikeston. She was the beautiful wife of James G. Burden, who survives of the home in Sikeston.

A 1966 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School, she married James. G. Burden of Charleston on April 4, 1967.

She was a legal secretary and began her career working for the late Tom Gilmore and ended her career last summer, when she was working for Burns and Taylor. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Lisa Carol and Ron Webb of Dexter, Jenifer Leigh and Lesley Cantrell of Bertrand and Debra Lynn and Chris Link of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Patricia Kay Chism of Sikeston, Delores Ann Faucett of Cupertino, Calif., and her twin sister, Jeanne Carol Goode of Sikeston; and five grandchildren, Sarah Cantrell of Bertrand, Trey Webb, Adam Webb and Madelyn Webb of Dexter and Nathan James Link of Memphis.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home, 1120 N. Main in Sikeston. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1801 Ables Road, in Sikeston. Pastor Joe McCullough and family friend, Pastor Tom Geers, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Bye, Dale Landers, Larry Landers, Phillip Terry, Randy Terry, Jon Burden, Jason Kuykendall and Paul Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Tona Nicoson, Wanda Propst, Diana Hall, Glenda Woodard and Joan Long.
