Hester Chalk
PARMA - Hester Chalk, 80, died May 30, 2003, at the Portageville Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1922, in Malden, daughter of the late Charlie and Flora Hutchcraft Wells, she was a lifelong resident of Parma.
On July 11, 1937, in Gideon, she married Jesse Burton Chalk who survives of Parma.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Lee and Teresa Chalk of Portageville; four sisters, Elsie Tate of Michigan, Loretta Hain of Parma, Lavada Emmons of Wappapello and Selma Perucca of Collinsville, Ill.; and one grandchild, Bobby Wayne Chalk.
Preceding her in death were six brothers, J.L. Wells, Lonnie Wells, Herman D. Wells, Loyd "Buster" Wells, Floyd "Pete" Wells and Ed Wells; and three sisters, Wilma Hamilton, Ethel Hill and Addie Creach.
Services were conducted Monday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma with the Rev. Keith Garland of Dexter officiating.
Burial followed in the Rosewood Cemetery at Malden.
Pallbearers were: Randal Ramsey, Ted Morgan, Danny Biggs, Doyle Crews, Charlie Payne and Raymond Dickerson.
