Shirley Slayton
SIKESTON - Shirley Tubbs Shirkey Slayton, 63, died at 1:15 p.m. June 2, 2003, at her home.
Born May 27, 1940, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Carl E. "Dick" and Catharine Sneed Tubbs, she had been a nurse for Dr. Urban; was traffic manager for KMPL Radio for 17 years and was a medical technician for LaBonne-Maison before retiring. She was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Sikeston.
Her first husband, Harvey Shirkey, survives of Sikeston. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Bob Slayton.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Kim Shirkey of Sikeston; one daughter, Susan Cato of Arlington, Tenn.; one sister, Brenda Penrose of Delta; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Robert Goins, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of Dongola, Ill., and the Rev. John R. Snell, pastor of the Pentecostal Church at Ziegler, Ill., will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
