Bob Scheffer

PADUCAH, Ky. - Vincent "Bob" Scheffer, 77, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died at 4:19 p.m. Aug. 11, 2003, at his home.

Born Dec. 19, 1925, in Charleston, son of the late Henry Bernard and Rosella Layton Scheffer, he was employed with Rhodes-Burford Home Furnishings in Mounds, Ill., retiring as manager after 40 years of service, and was a front end supervisor for Super Value in Lone Oak. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, life member of Knights of Columbus Council 1055 and charter life member of VFW Post 8891 in Mounds. He was also a former member of the Mounds Fire Department and Lions Club.

His wife, Sadie Langdon Scheffer, survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Jeanie Andresen of Stillman Valley, Ill., and Susan Duncan of Houston, Texas; one son, Russell Scheffer of Paducah; five sisters, Cecelia Gier of St. Louis, Mo., Mildred Abernathy and Annie Marie Weidfeld of Benton, Mo., and Aline Scherer and Christine Lape of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Six brothers preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Paducah.
