MINER -- A Tennessee woman is in custody after robbing the Miner Branch of the First National Bank Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Phyllis A. Hester entered and robbed the First National Bank at 2201 E. Malone Ave. Details of how she robbed the bank have not been released by law enforcement officials.
Capt. L.A. Armstrong and officer Jim Backfisch of the Miner Police Department along with Miner Fire Chief Benny Thurston observed a vehicle matching the description they were given by bank employees. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on East Malone from Turner Street.
A short pursuit followed which resulted in the arrest of Hester at the 900 block of Missouri Route AA. "She didn't get far at all," a Miner Police spokesman said Friday.
The cash believed to have been taken in the robbery along with articles of clothing worn by Hester were recovered from her vehicle.
Hester has been charged with first degree robbery and is being held on $200,000 bond at the Scott County Jail.
Miner police was assisted by members of the Sikeston Department of Safety, Scott County Sheriff's Department and the FBI. No one was injured in the robbery or the ensuing pursuit and arrest.
