CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Sikeston native Tom Dawson finished tied for 72nd place in the Champions Tour's 2003 National Qualifying Tournament in Coral Springs, Fla.

Dawson fired a 74 in the final round on Friday to end the tournament with a score of 300, which was 25 strokes off the lead.

The top seven finishers in the tournament received their Champions Tour card. The next eight players and all ties received conditional status on the tour, based on order of finish. In the four-day event, Dawson shot scores of 78, 68, 80 and 74.

The 49-year-old golfer graduated from Sikeston High School in 1972 and currently lives in Reno, Nev. He is the son of Betty Lou and Gene Dawson of Sikeston.
