BENTON - The Scott County University of Missouri Extension Council at its annual meeting here Tuesday night re-elected B.F. Marshall III of Blodgett as chairman. Other officers elected or re-elected are: L.A. Heisserer of Illmo, vice chairman; Mrs. Margaret Rogers of Sikeston, secretary; and Joe Engram of Vanduser, treasurer.

SIKESTON - The eighth annual Sikeston Junior High School and Senior High School Science Fair was conducted Saturday afternoon with winners named in 12 categories. Winners in the junior division are: Christian Nunnelee, John McGregor, Sarah Jarvis, Christy Comer, Todd Cannon, Laura Pounds, Lisa Hart, Sara Helfrich, Ginger Hagler, Stephen Colbert and Amy Norton.

SIKESTON - Each year the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Telethon brings joy, laughter and maybe a tear or two into the homes of southeast Missouri residents. This year promises to be much of the same, said country music star Barbara Fairchild. "We are real excited about performing on the telethon," said Fairchild. "We are looking forward to see what we can do for those babies, and have a wonderful time in the process."

MINER - The City of Miner's Emergency Management Agency is not yet a month old but it already has plenty of experience. At the helm of the newly created agency is Lou Goehri. He was appointed coordinator at the Board of Aldermen meeting on Feb. 14.
