Call 471-6636

This is in response to local business personnel being called "stupid." Stupid is what stupid called personnel trying to perform their job to the best of their ability and the way they can do it. The one who called SpeakOut about being stupid "is."

In regards to the article in SpeakOut about the birds messing up the golf course, I think it's bad, but it's terrible when they put those bombs out to scare the birds off to come over here to Morehouse like the ones that landed near the park there. They put the bombs out to scare the birds off and then they all ran off over here to Morehouse. They mess up the yards where the little kids and the little animals have to run around. It's really terrible!

Are we becoming complacent again as time goes by since the Sept. 11 wake-up call? I don't see as many flags flying and I don't hear much conversation concerning the horrible events that happened on that day anymore. As the people of the United States, and especially as Christians, are we remembering to pray for our country, for our President for all those who are in decision-making decisions? This is a reminder that God's word tells us in Psalm 33:17, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." In II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my named shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land." Do we want to live in a blessed nation? The only way we need to do this is to recognize our dependence on the living God and his son, Jesus Christ. We must humble ourselves, pray, seek his face and turn from our wicked ways. Then he will forgive us, heal us and bless us. Let's remember to pray also for our young men and women who are fighting the ongoing war against terrorism.

You golfers have money, so you get on TV and news over the birds. Let me tell you, the birds have been bad on the south end of town also. Late last fall they were so bad my neighbors and I beat on pots and pans. I decided we needed to help, so went to City Hall, where I was told they couldn't do anything. So I went to the police department. After talking to two officers, I finally talked to the captain. He gave me a 30-day permit to shoot fireworks. A few days later, late in the evening, here came a police officer. He asked me what I was doing. I told him. He said I couldn't do that. I said, "Wait a minute. I went and got my permit," so he said, "If the captain says you can, you can." So I hear lots of noise coming from the golf course now. Do they have a permit or is it just us on the south end? Tell me, does the city treat us all alike? It's a terrible problem and we all need to work on it when the birds affect our property.

I'm landowner and am also a landlord. I do not allow dogs in my homes because one time I rented to a man who had a dog in his house when he went to work and the dog dug almost all the way through the bedroom door. They are destructive, they messed up all the carpets and they had to be redone. It's just not a good idea to rent to anybody who has dogs.

The person who thought people should spend their money on parties instead of buying groceries and paying their rent must be crazy. People need food to eat and a house to live in. We pay rent for a house that needs to be torn down instead of being fixed all the time. And we use our money to buy gas and to get us back and forth to work. It takes all we make to keep us going. It's hard to make ends meet when you don't make very much working at the jobs you already have.
