NMCC hammers South Pem
STEELE - The New Madrid County Central Eagles improved to 22-3 on the season with a 94-26 whipping on the road of South Pemiscot on Thursday.
NMCC led 32-9 after one quarter and 56-14 at the half. The Eagles' substitutes played most the entire second half.
"I was pleased with the varsity," said NMCC head coach Joby Holland. "They played real well and came in with a business-like attitude. They were focused and did what they had to do. The jayvee got to play and get some good quality minutes.
That was a good experience for them to be able to get to play in a varsity game."
NMCC was led by Dereke Tipler's 16 points and Brian Murph's 13. Tyler Wagner added 11 points and Edgar Givens had 10.
Kyle Helfer led South Pemiscot with nine points.
The Eagles will host Class 2A state ranked Portageville tonight at 6 p.m.
"This was a good performance heading into (tonight's game)," said Holland. "I'm hoping that we'll be focused for (Portageville)."
