Michael Westrich

NEW HAMBURG - Michael Emanuel Westrich, 86, died at 9:42 p.m. March 25, 2002, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born June 16, 1915, in New Hamburg, son of the late Joseph and Sophia Gosche Westrich, he was a plant engineer for Sunkist Growers and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg and Chaffee VFW Post 3127.

On Feb. 27, 1943, at Ontario, Calif., he married Betty June Walker who preceded him in death on March 16, 2002.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael K. Westrich of New Hamburg and Richard L. Westrich of Upland, Calif.; two sisters, Rose Kearn and Anna Glastetter of New Hamburg; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Four brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, where a prayer service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone, officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
