SCOTT CITY - Margaret "Maggie" Cornelia Steger, 51, died at 1:50 p.m. March 23, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 11, 1950, in St. Louis, daughter of Goldie McBride Asher of Chaffee and the late Malvin Leslie Steger, she was affiliated with the Catholic Church.

On Feb. 15, 1970, in Scott City, she married Malvin Leslie Steger, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1978.

Surviving are: one son, Malvin L. "Chip" Steger II of St. Louis; one daughter, Tammy Ressel of Scott City; one brother, Edward LaCroix of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Carol Mattewson of Aberdine, Wash., Maujevea Overfield of Chaffee and Dee Benson of Scott City; her stepfather, Virgil Asher of Chaffee; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where parish prayers will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City with the Rev. David Coon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.
