Bill Woods

CAMDENTON - William I. "Bill" Woods, 56, formerly of Sikeston, died July 12, 2003, at Lake Regional Health Systems in Osage Beach.

Born June 11, 1947, in St. Louis, son of William G. "Bill" and Mabel Winter Woods of Owensville, he was raised in Owensville, where he graduated high school in 1965 and was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in his youth. He attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis and earned a degree in marketing from Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an insurance adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau in Great Bend, Kan. In 1978, he moved to Missouri, where he worked for the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Rolla and in 1984, went to work for the Social Security Administration in Sikeston. He left Sikeston in 1988 and moved to Camdenton, where he became a member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church.

In 1969, he married Martha Noland who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Eric Hill; and one granddaughter, Lynna Hill.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton.

Visitation will continue from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Marc Magana will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Owensville City Cemetery.
