Ron Worley
DEXTER - Carter Ronald "Ron" Worley, 65, died Jan. 3, 2004, at his home.
Born March 20, 1938, at Frisco, son of the late Carter P. and Esther M. Smith Worley, he was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter where he had served as an elder and was a devoted choir member for many years before poor health prevented him from singing. He graduated from Dexter High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and served as Missouri state FFA president. While attending the University of Missouri-Columbia, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the Missouri University Singers. A lifelong farmer and cattleman, he was the first rancher to bring purebred Charolais cattle into Southeast Missouri and also was a breeder of miniature horses.
On July 5, 1959, at Lebanon, Mo., he married Mary Elizabeth Corry who survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn McCauley, on June 18, 1995.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Carter and Catherine Worley of Ellisville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Worley and Robert Mayer and Marilyn Worley and Charles Pippins of Dexter; one son-in-law, Greg McCauley of Poplar Bluff; four granddaughters, Caitlyn McCauley and Cory McCauley of Poplar Bluff and Elizabeth Worley and Mara Worley of Ellisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating.
Burial followed in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
