Lavelle Young

SIKESTON - Inas Lavelle Young, 81, died at 5:16 a.m. on Aug. 5, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Sept. 24, 1922, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of the late James and Jenny Hibbard O'Neal, she had been a waitress. On Aug. 15, 1949, in St. Louis, she married Lyndell "Jim" Young who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Raymond O'Neal of Bloomfield and Glen O'Neal of Jackson, Tenn.; four sisters, Mayme McConnaughhay and Faye Wheeler of Flint, Mich., Opal Smith of Jackson, Tenn., and Juanita Rankins of Grayridge; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the Olive Branch General Baptist Church in Essex.
