HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. - Lirlene White Peyton, 87, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Aug. 12, 2004, at Baptist Memorial-DeSoto in Southaven, Miss. Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Holly Springs, Miss., daughter of the late Oliver Thalen and Gertrude Murdock White, she was a teacher in Portageville and Hayti, Mo., before retiring. A graduate of Mississippi Industrial College and St. Louis University, she was a former member of the St. Paul CME Church and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church...

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. - Lirlene White Peyton, 87, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Aug. 12, 2004, at Baptist Memorial-DeSoto in Southaven, Miss.

Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Holly Springs, Miss., daughter of the late Oliver Thalen and Gertrude Murdock White, she was a teacher in Portageville and Hayti, Mo., before retiring. A graduate of Mississippi Industrial College and St. Louis University, she was a former member of the St. Paul CME Church and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Her husband, Leonard Peyton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Oliver H. Peyton Sr. and Dr. Reginald M. Peyton of Memphis, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Delores Peyton Jackson of Memphis; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charity Hill Cemetery in Lake Center.

J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of arrangements.
