PARMA - Larry Wayne Simmons, 60, died July 17, 2003, at his home near Parma.

Born June 11, 1943, in Parma, son of Maxine Goode Simmons Simpson of Parma and the late William Theodore Simmons, he lived in the Parma area all his life. A farmer and member of the First Baptist Church in Parma, he served in the Bernie Army National Guard.

On June 4, 1993, at Piggott, Ark., he married JoAnn Ballard who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: his stepfather, Gilbert Simpson of Parma; three sons, Westley Simmons of Dexter and Jonathan Simmons and Jared Simmons of Bernie; two stepsons, Keith Heigle of Mayersville, Miss., and Brad Heigle of Anguilla, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Konny Heigle of Mayersville and Misty Joiner of Cary, Miss.; two brothers, Gary Simmons of Salisaw, Okla., and Doile Simmons of Coweta, Okla.; two sisters, Shirley Harris of Dexter and Mary Lou Payne of Parma; and three grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. today until service time at 2 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. The Rev. John Girdley of Parma will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
