CHARLESTON -- James M. "Jim" Alstat, 62, formerly of DeSoto, Ill., died at 6:26 a.m. June 1, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 19, 1941, in DeSoto, son of Viola Alberta Hicks Alstat of DeSoto and the late Frederick Louis "Fritz" Alstat, who died March 3, 2004, he was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto and Teamsters Local #347 of West Frankfort, Ill. He had served as a trustee of the Village of Cambria, Ill.

On July 28, 1966, at DeSoto, he married Pamela Sue Bosworth who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jacinta Alstat of Pomona, Ill.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jill Alstat of Marion, Julie and Frank Hardcastle of Mocksville, N.C., and Debbie and Glenn Murphy of DeSoto; two brothers, Bob Alstat of Vandalia, Ill., and Fred Alstat of DeSoto; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, Ill., where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Jeff Wiggs will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Indian Hill Cemetery at DeSoto.
