CLARKTON - William Vernon Brewer, 77, died March 5, 2004, at his home.

Born July 4, 1926, in Lilbourn, son of the late Delbert Brewer and Martha Petty Brewer, he was a member of the First Baptist Church. A veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, he was a member of the VFW in Parma and a retired carpenter.

On Dec. 12, 1964, in St. Louis, he married Willine Nunn, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Harold Brewer of Moline, Ill., and Robert Brewer of Campbell; two daughters, Ruth Brewer of Dexter and Kelly Brewer of Malden; two stepdaughters, Lisa Robbins of Marston and Sharon Ward of Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mary Prater of St. Louis; and 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa Brewer; one sister, Vernice Vaninger; three brothers, Fred Brewer, Roy Brewer and Trenton Brewer; and one half brother, Lawrence Tackett.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Chuck Pipkins will officiate.

Burial will follow at Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton with military rites.
